Prisons voter education and information dissemination project (2021-2022)

In the period ranging from 14th May, 2021 to 31st December, PFF participated in the Democracy Strengthening in Zambia (DSZ) Project implemented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with financial support from European Union, France, Germany Cooperation, Irish Aid, Sweden, UKaid and USAID. PFF’s action was aimed at improving Persons in Lawful Custody(PLC)  Participation in the Electoral Process, through increasing voter education, voter information and civic education in Correctional Facilities/Centres based in Western, Central, Eastern, and Muchinga Provinces. In this project, PFF Contributed to increased knowledge of 8717 inmates i.e. 8539-males and 178-females on voter information and education. Of the net inmate eligible voters totalling 7722, the actual voter turnout stood at 90% i.e. 6722 males and 209 females voted on 12th August 2021. Furthermore, 8499 i.e. 7929 males and 570 females were imparted with civic education knowledge by November, 2021.
