Promoting prison human rights awareness and legal aid services through paralegal services at Ndola Remand, Kansenshi, Kamfinsa and Chingola correctional facilities as well as Legal Services Unity at Chingola Subordinate Court and Wusakile Police Station in Kitwe (2017-2021)
In the period 1st August 2017 to 31st January 2021, PFF secured funding from the European Union and the Federal republic of Germany, under the programme for legal empowerment and enhanced justice delivery (PLEED).The aim of the project was to promote prison human rights awareness and legal aid services through paralegal services at Ndola Remand, Kansenshi, Kamfinsa and Chingola correctional facilities as well as Legal Services Unity at Chingola Subordinate Court and Wusakile Police Station in Kitwe. All the legal desks are located on Copperbelt Province of Zambia. Under this project, 19147 clients benefited from legal advice, information, education, assistance, representation, mitigation and mediation in criminal and civil cases including human rights sensitization, trained 30 staff from key criminal justice institutions on international, regional and national human rights and 30 community paralegals in level 3 paralegal studies.
